Each activity is regarded as a possible source of errors. – Diagnosis is deﬁned as the task of ﬁnding which activity (or set of) may have caused the observed malfunctioning; formally the notion of consistencybased diagnosis  is adopted. – Diagnosis is carried out through a decentralized framework. Diagnosability is analyzed in the context of event-based diagnosis, which means that the fault signatures are composed of sequences of events. In the discrete event systems framework, other well-known methods for diagnosability analysis, in particular , but also , , are devoted to centralized systems. In , diagnosability is analyzed upon a logic based formalism and within a statebased diagnosis framework that is closer to ours, however it focuses on centralized systems. The diagnosability analysis proposed in  also refers to a state-based diagnosis approach for centralized systems.
