This e-book constitutes the refereed court cases of the ninth eu convention on Case-Based Reasoning, ECCBR 2008, held in Trier, Germany, in September 2008.
The 34 revised examine papers and five revised software papers offered including three invited talks have been rigorously reviewed and chosen from seventy one submissions. All present concerns in case-based reasoning are addressed, starting from theoretical and methodological concerns to complex functions in quite a few fields corresponding to wisdom discovery, similarity, context-awareness, uncertainty, and future health sciences.

This ebook constitutes the completely refereed post-workshop court cases of the 1st Pacific Rim overseas convention on Multiagents, PRIMA '98, held in Singapore in November 1998 in the course of PRICAI '98. The thirteen revised complete papers provided were rigorously reviewed for inclusion within the e-book. The papers are prepared in topical sections on multiagent structures layout, coordination structures, and community software systems; they tackle a variety of present matters starting from theorectical foundations to complex purposes in numerous parts.
The ACM Workshop on safety and privateness in electronic Rights administration is the ? rst scienti? c workshop with refereed court cases dedicated completely to this subject. The workshop used to be held along with the 8th ACM convention on computing device and Communications safety (CCS-8) in Philadelphia, united states on November five, 2001.
Conceptual modeling is prime to any area the place one needs to deal with complicated real-world occasions and structures since it fosters conversation - tween expertise specialists and those that might bene? t from the applying of these applied sciences. Conceptual modeling is the main mechanism for und- status and representing the domain names of knowledge method and database - gineering but additionally more and more for different domain names together with the hot “virtual” e-environmentsandtheinformationsystemsthatsupportthem.

For example, the traditional themes of representation and indexing, analogy, architectures, and design and planning are conspicuous by their absence and even critical areas of research such as adaptation or similarity and retrieval have either become less active or have fundamentally changed their emphasis. g. g. Case-Base Maintenance), as it matures to deliver effective solutions to the community. This can be considered a sign of a healthy research area. The choice of a clustering algorithm that produces a “soft” hierarchical organisation, allowing the identification of localised groupings where papers may An Analysis of Research Themes in the CBR Conference Literature 35 belong to more than one cluster, has proved effective.
On the other hand, the view of CBR as a model of creativity does seem to have waned. Perhaps this is no surprise as, to a large extent, the modern view of CBR is one the emphasises retrieval rather than adaptation and, arguably, creativity demands a significant measure of adaptation by definition. The early work of creativity stems from a time when there was a more optimistic view of the potential for automated adaptation, and the lack of significant research activity in the area of adaptation (as discussed above) suggests that this view is no longer held.
This excludes a number of important publications that have greatly influenced the field and are strongly linked to the papers that have been covered. Perhaps the most prominent example of this is the paper by Aamodt & Plaza – this is the definitive citation for the CBR cycle which shapes the way we think about the CBR process. Another important influence on CBR research has been Richter’s “knowledge containers” idea that he introduced in an invited talk at ICCBR’95. Unfortunately this work is not included in the CBR conference proceedings, but is described elsewhere .
